Junior Associate

To support our current practice, we are looking for a motivated lawyer as a Junior Associate in our Cross-Border practice to start in February 2018. This is a probationary position. If you are eager to learn, proactive, passionate about working in fast paced-crossborder practice and able to work collaboratively in a small and dynamic structure, this opportunity might be for you.   Qualifications and skills LLB degree or related field; Strong research and analytical skills; Proven knowledge of working in a crossborder environment; Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. You should relish the challenges of handling a mix of Legal and Technology related issues across various industries, including information and communications technology (ICT), drones, healthcare and energy/environment.

Under the guidance of senior team members, your tasks will include:

  • Monitoring, gathering intelligence and providing analysis of East-Africa legislation;
  • Researching and drafting background notes and Legal opinions;
  • Attending and reporting on meetings;
  • Assisting with business administration;
  • Performing other tasks as requested to contribute to the objectives of Bytelex Advocates.

 

Qualifications and skills

  • LLB degree or related field;
  • Strong research and analytical skills;
  • Proven knowledge of the East African Eco-system and regime.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Working knowledge of one or more East African languages such as Kiswahili is an asset;
  • Previous experience in a consultancy/in-house, trade association or other relevant professional environment;
  • Strong collaboration skills and a positive, can-do attitude
