Irene Eyogyiire

Partner

Irene approaches tasks creatively and exceptionally, combining a strong knowledge of transactional advisory and liigation. She assists clients in the fields of tax, project infrastructure financing, Energy and environment.

Irene Eyogyiire is a Partner with Bytelex Advocates with extensive experience in offering Corporate, Transaction and Regulatory advisory services to clients. Irene has a good understanding of legal concepts in Commercial Law. Irene leverages her experience in providing advisory services and her vast legal knowledge to maximize output of the Firm’s Associates.
Irene is engaged in providing legal services in the following respects: Conduct of legal due diligence and third party verification on behalf of lenders and investors; Preparation of Structuring opinions for investment vehicles or commercial transactions; Preparation of Transactional documents including purchase contracts, credit and security documentation; Conduct of legal audits for corporate entities and security reviews for secured creditors.


Irene also has a keen interest in Tax Law and practice. As a result, she is conversant with tax legislation and is experienced in preparation of tax advisory opinions on the tax treatment of the transactions entered into by the Firm’s clients. Irene has also been engaged in pursuing the obtainment of tax rulings on critical tax matters and assisting clients with tax compliance issues.

In 2016, Irene participated in the 2nd Africa Tax Symposium organized by the International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation (IBFD) under the theme: “Trends in International Taxation: An African Perspective”. The Participants analysed the performance of the taxing authorities in various African countries in the Post-BEPS landscape, the phenomenon of tax planning within group arrangements and implementation of jurisdiction specific Transfer pricing rules.

Irene is an Advocate of the High Court and all courts subordinate thereto and a Member of Uganda Law Society. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree from Makerere University, a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre.

Irene formally worked with a prominent commercial law practice as an Associate in the Finance and Infrastructure department where she was responsible for preparing and reviewing due diligence reports, preparing legal opinions and transactional documents in respect of commercial arrangements, preparing tax opinions and offering company secretarial services.
