Raymond Asiimwe is a Lawyer, practicing advocate of the High Court of Uganda and the East African Bar Association. He is founding and Managing Partner of Bytelex Advocates (bytelexhq.com); a leading firm recognized by Legal500 & Iflr - the firm is one of the first law practices in Africa with a dedicated focus to high growth firms(startups).

Raymond’s work spans a company’s entire corporate life cycle including entity selection, employee & founder share schemes, technology licensings, ip creation & monetisation, venture financings, mergers & acquisitions and securities transactions.

He has a deep understanding of how tech startups and social enterprises are formed, financed, grown, taken public and acquired or merged.   • Advising Innovex on seed round- investment road map strategy in respect of absorption of $154,211 investment.
  • Africa Smart Investments Ltd, a large Rwandan logistics and distribution company on negotiating an agreement with Authors and Copyright owners to distribute their digital works on the Vital Source digital platform.
  • Absolute Energy a mini-grid developer in respect of EPC/Turnkey contract dispute of $260,000. Conducted and completed emergency arbitration proceedings.
  • Advising on a first of a kind Real-Estate/agricultural fund to be domiciled in Rwanda and Mauritius expected to manage over 10 Hectares of Land.
  • Advising on a $ 710,000 spv- joint venture investment vehicle to implement a startup residency program in Kigali Rwanda.

  • Japan International Cooperation Agency, which is the development finance institution of the Government of Japan retained Raymond Asiimwe as legal consultant in the implementation of the 250-startups accelerator mentorship programme in Rwanda. The accelerator program is being implemented by the Government of Rwanda under the ICT Innovation Ecosystem Strengthening program. Responsible for 10 companies and 10 trainee lawyers each cohort.

  • Matibabu, (U) Limited (subsidiary of ThinkIT (U) Limited), the inventor of a blood-free malarial testing kit engaged the Firm to advise on developing cross-licensing strategies with Penn state university and Glasgow university.
  • Park and Pick (Rwanda) on structuring for investment and investor readiness for their seed round.
  • Olado Business group an e-commerce platform on adoption of terms of use and privacy policies.
  • The Einstein giving (Rwanda) an online crowdfunding platform on its impact investment roadmap strategy.
  • Advising Raisin Ltd, the creators of “Akokanya” Rwanda’s first ticketing system on complying with the requirements of a fintech payments integrator.
